Welcome
Life is just better with a teddy bear dog!
So what is a teddy bear dog you ask? The teddy bear, also referred to as a Malshi or Shichon, is a cross between a purebred Shih Tzu and a purebred Maltese or Bichon Frise. They are generally a healthy breed, but as all others are predisposed to eye problems, dental issues and allergies. To maintain their health, proper vet care combined with a balanced diet, appropriate exercise and grooming will allow for a long life. The life expectancy is generally 12-15 years or even longer!
So what makes the teddy bear so great? These little social dogs will capture your heart with their friendly, loving and playful nature. These guys can play their hearts out and then snuggle up with you for a nap. They love everyone and everything! Great with kids and other pets!
Teddy bears are intelligent and highly trainable! Consistent positive reinforcement-based training allows for quick learning with teddy bears.
Moderate exercise is all these guys need. So a short walk or play session will keep them content. Perfect for apartment owners to homeowners, as these guys are very adaptable and versatile.
To keep up their adorable appearance, grooming is an essential aspect of their care. Teddy bears have soft, fluffy coats and will need brushed often and groomed on a regular basis to prevent tangles and matting. They are non-shedding and hypoallergenic due to their minimal dander.
Teddy bears are a smaller breed. Typically weighing between 6-15 pounds and standing 8-12 inches tall at the shoulder. Making them easy to pick up and take with you anywhere!
My family would say the teddy bear dog is the best of all breeds!!
